PROACTIVE PAWS ©

WHAT IS PROACTIVE PAWS©?

Proactive Paws©  is a 6-week course for owners with dogs that display unwanted behaviour towards unfamiliar dogs taught by Katey Aldred.  Katey has extensive knowledge and skill within this area of behaviour. The course is designed with the owner in mind to teach owners about the nuisances of behaviour, what drives unwanted behaviour and what maintains the unwanted behaviour. You will be instructed on management and behaviour modification techniques to utilise with your dog. In addition, you will gain practical skills on how to apply the information you are given. The course will teach you how to be proactive about the issue you are faced with rather than keep waiting for your dog to display unwanted behaviour then try to deal with it afterwards.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Level One

This introductory course gives you all the information you need and starts you off with practical skills.

Week One

A one and half hour seminar discussing unwanted behaviour, the process of reaction, do’s and don’ts and practical skills needed. You will be given printed information to take home and read as well as homework tasks.

The seminar is given at an indoor location, NO DOGS ATTEND.

Week Two to Week Six

These sessions are one hour and 15 minutes in length. Each handler will bring their dog on differing weeks, the handlers are informed of this on week one of the course. The sessions are practical to begin implementing the theoretical knowledge you learnt on week one.

What if I am not bringing my dog? You will be given tasks to complete during the session.

At the end of each session there will be a theoretical discussion.

These sessions are held outdoors, you will need to be prepared for all weather conditions.
